I've recently had my poem read out in this video below, which was created by the group TheWriterGang. Anyone can join and submit their poem to be read, so if you'd like to see how your poem sounds when being read aloud then I'd encourage you to submit your work to this group. I've always liked listening to spoken word myself, and consider it a fantastic platform to share poetry and prose alike.

X.she is butterfly
wing-beats;
wearing a mask
of sunrise smiles
to cover
uncertainty and
holes they
burned through
her chest -
what she wants
are answers to
the questions they
gave her without
permission - the word
"why?" lingers
between the cracks
of her fingertips;
at the edge of
her eyelashes when
each diamond falls
to the dust below.

2. a good book you've read recently?
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. If you haven’t read it already then I urge you to go read this amazing piece of literature NOW because it’s a beautiful book that carries an amazing message. I can’t go anywhere without it since I keep having to re-read it.

3. fave flavour of ice cream?
Chocolate chocolate CHOCOLATE.

4. how do you wear your hair?
I have it really short so it’s over my ears with a fringe that seems determined to always get in my eyes. I dye it different colours when I’m not at school (mainly red, purple, blue and silver, often separately but sometimes together) but I can’t dye it permanently since there’s a rule that we can’t have it ‘dyed obvious colours.’

^{(seriously, dyeing my hair will not destroy my brain cells for goodness sake. Yes, this rule is my pet hate)}
5. fave day of the week?
Saturday <33

6. dogs, cats or both?
Dogs, although I’m personally more of a small animals person.

9. whatcha afraid of?

Balloons popping, being shouted at, telephone calls and wasps. I swear wasps are a plague on all humankind.

10. so you meet me in person at the local bus stop. what happens next?

“DIVYA?! IT'S ACTUALLY YOU OMG!!” *SQUEALS LOUDLY AND ATTEMPTS RUGBY-TACKLE HUG BUT PROBABLY ENDS UP NEARLY KNOCKING DIVYA INTO ROAD AND ACCIDENTALLY KILLING HER* “OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S REALLY YOU, MY FELLOW MASTERMIND! WE ARE GOING TO ANTARTICA RIGHT NOW SO LET’S STEAL A BUS AND MAKE IT FLY.”

So now that I'm a little calmer than I was earlier (where I kind of squealed and flailed around wildly upon seeing the notification...I'm still definitely not calm yet but anyway lol) I'd like to thank the amazing emsoileau for suggesting my poem and also the lovely brennennn for featuring it!! Massive hugs and <33333 to you both!!

Here's the piece below:
there was something in the air that night. when she kissed me, the taste of ashes
invaded the cavern of my mouth and rested, heavy
against the seabed of my lungs. i heard the shipwrecked sailors there
cry out,
angry they had been disturbed
without consent.
my mouth did not ask for an invader, my tongue
bit itself trying to scream protest but was silenced
by the smog on her breath.
i don't smoke,
but if i did i'd say she was the best packet of cigarettes
you could buy. problem is,
we poets make so many metaphors out of smoking we forget smoking
kills. it burns. it makes your windpipe
fold in on itself like the broken limbs of a
dead, blackened oak. it makes you feel good and
silences
the protest.
my protest was still there when she kissed me,
when she touched me and
i wish
i'd said something then
instead of living with a layer of coal dust on my skin
that's invisible to the rest of humanity.
i wish i could clean it,
set fire to it, burn it off but you can't set a pile
of ashes ablaze;
i was the fossil fuel and she was
a three in

It discusses the heavy subject of men/boys being victims of rape, and though written after a conversation a few days ago it's definitely been brewing for a while now that I think back on it. If you do read it, please also read my artist's comments at the bottom as I talk about my views and the poem itself more there. 

I'd also like to thank all my watchers for their support - there's 413 of you now?! What is this?! Thank you all so much! <3333 I've loved my time on deviantart so far and I can't believe I've only been here for eight months - it feels like so much longer xD I have grown a lot as a writer and as a person during that time. It has been a fantastic journey and again, thank you all for your support!!

First things first, I'm going to be away from the 3rd to the 9th of April and as there is no Internet Access I won't be posting anything or replying to comments etc on those days.

That being said I am very excited to be taking part in my very first NaPoWriMo! I've never done one before so it's going to be a new experience in writing that I am really looking forward to and I will write whilst I am away, they just won't be going up on DA until I get back. If anyone has any advice for NaPoWriMo then please post it down below! <33

First of all, I hope you all had a great Christmas if you celebrate it, and all have a very Happy New Year!

I've been off for about a week now due to family events and that sort of thing, but I am also going to be off for about another week or so. The reason for this is because my younger brother's collar bone has been completely snapped in half, which means my house has been in chaos for the past couple of days and I'll be needed to help out a lot more which is fine since my brother and I get along really well - it just means I can't be online that much at all. I might be able to post one or two quick pieces, but comments and that will unfortunately have to wait.
